I have always made it my goal to create original art but sometimes I get inspired from online content and make changes to the image to avoid issues. Sometimes it has happened that I have stepped on someone’s toes so I remove the painting and move on.
Is it enough to change 30 percent of a copyrighted image? The only way to avoid copyright infringement is to create original work or by getting permission to use it. Ultimately the only way to know that you have changed enough of the copyrighted image is to check with the original source.
To use a work without permission from the owner, it has to be in the public domain. Most works enter the public domain because their copyrights have expired.
